I saw Dr. Johnston a few weeks ago. He was one of 2 doctors doing my procedure. He was fantastic in the office during my preop appointment. The day of my procedure I am told by my wife he came out of the OR to keep my wife updated on my progress. Absolutely impressed with Dr. Johnston. I saw the nurse practitioner in the office for my post op appointment, same thing. Wonderful. Fantastic care. No complaints or concerns here.

Dr. Ranger took the time to explain my condition and advise me that options were available. In addition to being a skilled specialist that I place my trust in, he is a compassionate and caring surgeon that is always available when needed.

Dr. Rummel is professional and compassionate. He listens carefully to my concerns and questions. He looks me straight in the eyes which I appreciate. I read him and he reads me by this action. I am so glad that my chiropractor recommended Dr. Rummel to me. My life has changed dramatically since I began my pellet
treatment. Prior to the treatment, I suffered with sadness/depression, memory loss and a lack of desire to do anything. I was unable to lose weight, I have lost 21 pounds to date working with Weight Watchers. I’m happy again. The treatments are expensive but I needed to continue to explore my health options. I am grateful for my renewed quality of life. Thank you Dr. Rummel and the rest of his staff, especially Jonathan.

Experience was good, but you need to put in Bernadette's history that she has onset Dementia....she is not a patient comprehending and understanding exactly what she is being told. She has been dealing with the condition for 4-5 years and it is assumed to be arterial Dementia...but undiagnosed. She has an appointment on 5/9 for an ultrasound.

I’m not sure exactly which visit/interaction this review is referring to, so I will speak to all of them. My first visit where I met and talked with Dr. Rummel was really good. He was kind and informative, and I appreciated that he was respectful and not trying to “sell” me anything. He answered all my questions and gave me all the information I needed.
When I came back for my first pellet insertion, Susie did the procedure and that went well. One thing I’d note is that I sat waiting in the exam room for longer than I would have expected - 15 or 20 minutes - before I saw Susie, though I had not arrived early but on time to my appointment. Susie did a great job explaining everything to me. I signed the three consent forms and had for some reason thought to take photos of each with my phone. I’m glad I did because after I left the appointment, I realized that no one had given me copies of the after appointment care instructions. I looked in MyChart and was unable to find them there either. Maybe that was just a simple mistake, but I’m glad I took the photos because I have looked back at them several times as my body began to adjust to the hormones to see what is “normal” and what’s not.
When, I started to bleed 9 days after the insertion (and eventually ended up having what I would call a “full 7-day cycle”), I called the office and spoke with Jonathan. He asked a couple of questions and said he would speak with Susie. He and I connected again the next day and said he would talk with Susie again and get back to me after she came back from rounds at the hospital. He don’t return my call that day. Instead, I called him 5 days later after my bleeding stopped. He said that he hadn’t returned my call because Susie had said to wait and see if the bleeding stopped after a few days. I’m not saying this to be critical, but I think it’s important that when anyone says that they will return a call that they do it when they say they will — even if that call is just to say that they will check in with me again after a week or whatever.
Does that make sense? Part of this is about building confidence in a new patient who is putting themself out there and trying something new and scary. Again, I’m not sharing this to be critical at all. I appreciate the opportunity to share my experience with you and know that reviews/feedback are only as helpful as they are clear and honest.
Thanks for all that you do. I am looking forward to future interactions with AV Surgery staff.
